John Bennett Leachman, 80, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, November 25, 2017. John joins his parents Grady and Emma Lee Leachman and his sisters , Margaret Haughton Worsham and Ann Barmore in heaven.

John is survived by his wife, Gloria Dean Leachman of Bossier City; daughters, Laura Russell and husband Wes of Tyler, TX, Amy Lopez and husband Jorge of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Mark Russell of Tyler, TX, Emily and Elena Lopez of Fort Worth, TX; sister Dell Shaw and husband A.W. Shaw of Vernon, LA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was a native of Ruston, LA and a resident of Bossier City for 40 years. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He spent his entire career in service to others, working as a mental health counselor, vocational rehabilitation counselor, chaplain and pastor. He was a very special and kind man who was loved by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Douglas Cemetery in Ruston. Karl Norris and Philip Neaville will officiate at the graveside service. Pallbearers are Mark Russell, Wesley Russell, Jorge Lopez, Philip Neaville, Billly McElduff, and Rel Shaw. Honorary pall bearers are Bill Bayne and Dale Wheelis.

In lieu of flowers the family request that you make a donation to the building fund of Airline Baptist Church, Bossier City or a charity of your choice.
