He enlisted March 16, 1862 at Monroe, Louisiana. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War in Hospitals when captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863. His name later appeared on a list of Officers & Men of 31 Regiment Louisiana Infantry that reported in camp for exchange in Vienna, Louisiana, dated March 29, 1864.
