Husband of Mabel Hendrix Purvis

Robert E. Purvis, 62-year old traveling salesman, native of Purvis but for the past 30 or more years a resident of Bogalusa, died from a heart attack at the Forrest Hotel in Hattiesburg, Tuesday afternoon about 2 o'clock.
Reports reaching relatives in this Community are that Mr. Purvis, who is employed by a New Orleans firm, left his home in Bogalusa Tuesday morning and had registered at the Forrest Hotel In Hattiesburg when he became ill. A physician was called who called an ambulance, but death resulted before Mr. Purvis reached the hospital.
Funeral services were held in Bogalusa at five o'clock Wednesday, and interment following in a Bogalusa cemetery.
Mr. Purvis was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Purvis, settlers of this community. He attended grammar and high schools in Purvis, then settled at Bogalusa, where for several years he was engaged in the manufacture of mattresses.
Besides his widow he is survived by two sons and one daughter. Also three sisters, Mrs. Dollie McNair of Ruston, La., and Purvis, Mrs. C. E. Thomas of Hattiesburg, and Miss Eula Purvis of Purvis. Also one brother, Jodie Purvis, of San Antonia, Texas survives.
