Private Willie Le Blanc, 17 Company 20 Engineers, survived the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on February 5, 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UBoat 77. He returned from war in the same unit aboard "Santa Paula" in May 1919. His next-of-kin on the "Tuscania" roster was listed as his father "Rane Le Blance" of Garyville, Louisiana; he was listed as "Willie Le Blance." On his return voyage, he sailed as "Willie P Le Blanc" and his father's name was entered as Rene Le Blanc of 734 Avenue "C" in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
