Died 1:12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993, at the Riverside Medical Center, Franklinton. He was 81, a native of Baywood and a resident of Franklinton. He was a specialist in agricultural research and marketing. Visiting at Crain Funeral Home, 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by Dr. Jerry Barlow and the Rev. Gene Richards. Burial in Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton. Survived by wife, Mrs. Juanita Lytle Smith, Franklinton; three sons, Phillip H. Smith,Wayne Smith, and Qua Smith, all of Franklinton; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Peevy, Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Jim Smith, Mark Smith, Shanda S. Addison, Matt Smith and Shannon Barber; and two great-grandchildren. He was well-known in the agricultural research and marketing fields in the Washington Parish Area for many years. He held a Masters Degree in Agronomy from L.S.U. He began his career as agricultural specialist for Lykes Steamship Company in Florida and later became a county agent for St. Tammany Parish. He was active in the development and management of agricultural experiment stations and milk marketing associations including the L.S.U. Southeast Research Station and the Gulf Milk Association in Franklinton. He was also owner and operatorof Smith Milk Company in Franklinton. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklinton.
