Funeral services for Joe O. Poole, 52-year-old editor of the Franklinton Era-Leader, were held Sunday afternoon from Centenary Methodist Church, with burial in Ellis Cemetery at Franklinton.

He was rushed to Bogalusa for treatment, but was not removed from the ambulance. He was sent on to New Orleans for brain surgery, but died en route.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Robinson Poole; three daughters, Mary Jo Poole of Jackson, Miss., Jane Poole and Judy Poole, both of Franklinton, two brothers, Willie Poole of Baton Rouge and John of Monticello, Miss. and two sisters, Mrs. Vera Chester of Franklinton and Mrs. Lucy P. Stumpf of New Orleans.
