William Millard "Billy" Bickham, 72, a resident of Franklinton, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 30th, at the Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton.
He was a retired employee of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and was a charter member of the Heart of Dixie Walking Horse Association.
He was a member of the Franklinton First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maxie Crain Bickham of Franklinton; a son, Dr. B. L. Bickham of Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Frances A. Payne of Baton Rouge, and Ms. Julia A. Bickham of Denham Springs; a sister, Mrs.
Fred (Clara) Thomas of Clifton; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The body lay in state at the Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton until the time for funeral services, which were conducted Wednesday, July 31st, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Barlow, the Rev. A. W.
Robbins, and Elder Ted Phillips officiating.
Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Richard McElveen, Jimmy McElveen, Don Bateman, Carey Bateman, Robert L. Crain II, Johnny Harris, Jr., Marion Jones and W. E. Knight.
Honorary pallbearers were Athan Brumfield, Dr. R. L. Rollins, A. G. Magee, Jr., H. H. Rayburn, Ruven Smith, D. L. Thomas, and Kelly Crain.
