Gary K. Boone, 68, of Ruston, went to be with the Lord our Savior on Tuesday, August 12 in Ruston, Louisiana. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, M.M. and Wilda Clark Boone; brother, M.M. “Mickey” Boone; and father in law, Larry Dickson.
Gary graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1964 and attended Louisiana Tech University. He proudly served in the National Guard for six years. Gary retired from Smurfit-Stone Papermill in 2006 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed range shooting, fishing, painting, watching his grandkids at all of their events and following Louisiana Tech Athletics. As a faithful witness to the Lord, his daily walk with Jesus was in living by example and sharing the Word.
He is survived by the love of his life of 49 years of marriage, Billie Jane Dickson Boone; three daughters, Michelle and husband Heath Davis of Ruston, Melanie and husband Joe Peel of Ruston, and Melissa and husband Jamie Hughes of Ruston; seven grandchildren, Garrison Lockhart, Paige Lockhart, Hayden Davis, Anna Claire Peel, Aaron Peel, Ashley Hughes, and Logan Hughes all of Ruston; one brother Joey Boone of Hodge, Louisiana; mother in law, Mildred Dickson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Brother Charles Penuell will officiate the service assisted by Brother Dalton Shovan.
Pallbearers will be Doug Clark, Woody Clark, Butch Garner, Lavelle Brown, Charles Neeles, Richard Johnson, Bill Kinman, and Ed Rich.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons Garrison Lockhart, Hayden Davis, Aaron Peel and Logan Hughes.
