Graveside services for Garland Abner Shipp, Jr. (Junior), 71, of Bosco, will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, Sep. 27, 2015 at Serenity Gardens with Rev. Lionel McGehee officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.

Mr. Shipp died suddenly Thursday, Sep. 24, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Shipp was born Aug. 28, 1944 to Garland Abner and Nell Murphrey Shipp. He grew up on the family farm near Bosco. The Shipp family were farmers in southeast Ouachita parish for generations, and it was at Coco Bend where Junior farmed for much of his life. In later years, he worked as a welder throughout the country, creating many lifelong friendships. He was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and he took great joy in his friends and family.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Abner and Nell Murphrey Shipp; and grandparents, James A. and Mattie Shipp.

Survivors include his children, Tammy Shipp Johnson and husband, Jeffrey Johnson of Keithville, Garland Thomas Shipp and partner John Callahan of St. Louis, Missouri, Tiffany Shipp Steffy and husband Michael Steffy of Chicago, Illinois; granddaughter, Amanda Renee May; and great granddaughter, Alexis Renea May, both of Keithville. Other survivors include his sisters, Carol Shipp Johnson and husband Lanny of St. Joseph, Pamela Shipp Jones and husband John of Jennings; brother, Alan Shipp and wife Pansy of Summertown, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the funeral home.
