CYNTHIA "ROSEBUD" HOOD, MD. Cynthia Ruth Hood, born June 21, 1958, beloved daughter of Maxine and William B. Hood of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on November 10, 2003. Her untimely death leaves her family and friends of Atlanta Outpatient Peachtree Dunwoody Medical Center to mourn her death. She was a devoted daughter who dearly loved her parents, family members and friends with whom she worked daily. She was a strong animal activist whose love of animals was shown in the care of her little poodle and terrier companions, and care of ducks located on the lake behind her home site, which she named and fed daily. She loved the Lord and believed in eternal life. Dr. Hood also loved her work and her patients, especially children and the elderly, as attested by many appreciative notes, letters, and cards she received over the years. Cindy was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Memorial High School. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate in Chemistry from Oral Roberts University and was listed on the President's and Dean's Honor rolls; a member of Tri Beta Biology Honor and Alpha Delta Pre-Med Honor Society. She received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Her post-graduate training, including a fellowship in Anesthesiology, was completed at Baptist and Oklahoma Teaching Hospitals, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a board certified Anesthesiologist and a member of AMA, SMA, and ASA. She served as Chief Anethesiologist at a Center for Ambulatory Surgery of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, and later as staff Anesthesiologist at Mid-West City Regional Medical Center. Prior to her move to Atlanta, she practiced at Broken Arrow Hospital and Memorial Cancer Institute with Eastern Oklahoma Anesthesiology in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following a brief practice at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dahlonega, Georgia she joined Martin M. Reeves, M.D., P.C. Anesthesiology Practice at Atlanta Outpatient Peachtree Dunwoody Medical Center. Dr. Hood, affectionately known as "Rosebud", was a gentle, loving and caring, humorous, true Southern Belle who served with dignity during her ten years at the Center. She was loved by all her colleagues and friends at AOPD, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cindy was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and is survived by her parents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and by many loving co-workers. Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to a Memorial Service in her honor at 5 P.M., Friday, November 14, 2003 at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Highway, Atlanta, Georgia 30328. Visitation 3-5 P.M. Sandy Springs Chapel Funeral Directors, 404-255-8511.
