August 2, 1939 - January 13, 2013
Uncertain, TX – Mr. Malcolm H. Sneed, Jr., better known by his friends and family as “Sluggo,” passed away on January 13, 2013, at Willis-Knighton Health Care after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at King’s Highway Christian Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mooringsport. Officiating will be Dr. David Brice, of King’s Highway Christian Church and Bro. Joe Chisum, of Church of Uncertain, Uncertain, TX.
Sluggo was a native of Shreveport and resident of Uncertain, TX for twelve years. He was a member of King’s Highway Christian Church, Texas Rangers and Oil City Rotary Club for 35 Years. He worked for the family business in his younger years and later for Dresser Magcobar, Halliburton-Imco Services and owner of L& S Services from 1974 until his retirement in 2001.
Sluggo was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm H. “Bull” and Birdie Loyal Smith Sneed, maternal grandmother, Willie Miller Sutton; maternal grandfather, Irving Smith; and paternal grandparents, Sarah Hornsby Sneed and Sebron Travis Sneed. He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Pamela S. Sneed; daughters, Cherie Wychopen and husband, Hal, of Magnolia, TX, Syralja Griffin and husband, Daryl, Christi White and husband, Keith, all of Shreveport, Janie Huff and husband, Tyler, of Ida, LA and Julie Valdez and husband, Andy, of Grovetown, GA ; sons, Malcolm H. Sneed, III and wife, Linda, of Bossier City, LA, Brian K. Sneed and wife, Kandi, of Bossier City, LA and David A. Sneed, of Shreveport, LA; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Billie Jean Sneed Apple, Lottie “Doll” Sneed Burk and husband, Dave and Jessie Sneed Matthews, all of Shreveport; and many nieces and nephews..
Pallbearers will be Curtis Durman, Dave Wynn, Josh Wynn, David Burk, Jr., Scott Burk and Eugene Smith.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or King’s Highway Christian Church, 806 Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA 71104.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medical staff of Willis-Knighton North Medical Center and LifeCare Linwood.
