Mooringsport - Huey P. Bankard, 81 of Mooringsport, LA passed away on March 18, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Mooringsport Baptist Church in Mooringsport, LA, officiated by his nephew, Rev. Christopher Bankard and cousin, Mac Hobbs. Burial will follow at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 PM on Thursday the 22nd at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA. Huey graduated from Vivian High School in 1954. He was a star football and baseball player. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was selected as an All Star for the U.S. Army 24th division football team in Korea, and was a member of Local 568 Teamsters Union. Huey was a long time member of Vivian Church of Christ but for the last 60 years attended Mooringsport Baptist Church. Huey married Loyce McCalman Bankard in 1958. Huey was preceded in death by his parents, Will Bankard, who died when Huey was 2 months old, and his mother, Opal Shores Bankard, his brother, Lyman Bankard and his sister, Linda Matlock. He is survived by his loving wife Loyce McCalman Bankard, sons Flynn Bankard and wife Karla, Robin Bankard and wife Adonna, and daughter, Missy Gribble and husband Robert. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Will Bankard, Daniel Bankard, London Gribble, Drake Gribble, Addison Bankard and Micah Bankard, great-grandchildren, Carli Bankard, Lyla Bankard and Bryce Bankard, and his sister, Billie Stroud. Pallbearers will be Will Bankard, Daniel Bankard, Drake Gribble, Micah Bankard, Gregory Bankard and Jason McCalman. Memorials may be made to Willis Knighton Cancer Center. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. P.V. Blanchard and Dr. Anil Kakani.
