JOHN'S OBITUARY
John Davidson Briggs, Jr passed away April 7, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was born March 1, 1941 in Henderson, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Vivian, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father John Davidson Briggs, Sr and brother James Walker Briggs, Sr. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Vivian, Louisiana; son Jeff Briggs and wife Rachel of Doyline, Louisiana; daughters Candi Greer and husband Todd of Shreveport, Louisiana; Cindy Folks and husband Steve of Fort Worth, Texas and Ashley Briggs of Dallas, Texas; mother Mardelle Rosenthal and husband A J of Vivian, Louisiana and sister Alice Rae Thompson and husband Charles of Henderson, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr Andy Haynes, Fudd Caldwell, Boe Caldwell, Mike Parker, Chris Phillips, and Elmer Moreau. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr John Haynes, Tim Phillips, Billy Briggs, and James Briggs. John was a successful businessman in the oilfield and pipeline construction business. He was a master welder and craftsman. A great outdoorsman, John spent much of his time hunting and fishing. However, his greatest source of pride was his family. As a devoted father, son, and husband, John was always concerned with his family and their well-being. Visitation will be held at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, Louisiana Friday, April 9 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 10 at 10:00 AM, also at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Vivian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital.
