Louis Shelby Knight Sr, 83, a resident of Franklinton, died at 10:30 a.m. yesterday in Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklinton and a retired dairyman.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Fairburn Knight of Franklinton; a son, Louis Shelby Knight Jr. of Franklinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Robert Sowerwine Sr. of Slidell; five grandchildren, Robert Sowerwine, Jeff Sowerwine, Scott Sowerwine, Louis Knight III, and Christopher Knight; and three great-grandchildren, Brittni Sowerwine, Kyle Sowerwine, and Ainsley Sowerwine.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Knight; and a brother, Herbert Knight.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. tomorrow at Crain Funeral Home until time of the funeral service, to be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Dr. Jerry Barlow will officiate at the service.
Burial will follow in the Ellis Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Sowerwine Jr., Jeffrey Sowerwine, Scott Sowerwine, Louis Shelby Knight III, Casey Collins, and Jeremiah Freeman. Honorary pallbearers are Dickey Lynn Knight and Christopher Knight.
