Funeral services for William Hugh "Bill" Rutledge, 51, of
Bossier city, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, in the Osborn
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery.

Rutledge, a native of Memphis, Tenn., had resided in Bossier
City for the past 25 years. He was pronounced dead on arrival at
Schumpert Medical Center at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan 1, after a
sudden illness.

He was owner of the R&R Barbecue Restaurant, and was a member of
the First Southern Methodist Church of Shreveport.

Mr. Rutledge was a Mason, a member of El Karubah Temple,
Shreveport chapter commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans,
and was formerly commander of the Louisiana Division of the Sons
of Confederate Veterans.

He was a member of the board of directors of the Northwest
Louisiana Restaurant Association, and had formerly been
associated with the radio and television broadcasting business.

Officiating at the service were the Rev. Frank M. Beauchamp,
pastor of the First Southern Methodist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marie Eason Rutledge; his
stepfather, Raymond E. Nall of Amerillo, Tex.; two sons, John
Rutledge of King, N. C., and Ronnie Turner of Bossier City; a
daughter, Marie Annette Rutledge of Bossier City; a sister, Mrs.
Barbara Brittain of San Augustine, Tex., and three grandchildren.

Rutledge is the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Eason of
Florien.
