Funeral services for Mr. J. D. Foster , age 92, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, Louisiana, with Bro. Kree Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Old Sarepta Cemetery, Sarepta, LA, with military graveside rites by the Fort Polk U.S. Army Honor Guard under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 14, 2014, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Foster was born on July 8, 1922 to Jasper Bearden and Eva Jane Lee Foster, in Chidester, AR, and passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Homer, LA. He was a resident of Sarepta for more than 40 years. He was a retired driller and oil well worker. He served in the U.S.Army in WW II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by two daughters, Renee Thompson and husband Billy Wayne of Springhill, LA, Cindy Foster of Sarepta, LA; three grandchildren, Justin Sumner, Ashley Harris and husband, Gary, and Megan Caraway and husband Aaron; seven great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Kylie, Austin, Titan, Eli, Addyson, and Hayden; a sister, Adelle Foster Waits of Arcadia, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by wife, Wilma Sanford Foster, on June 26, 2014; grandson, Shane Sumner; parents; sisters, Ozelle Lucky, Wanda McDaniel and Jimmie Green; brothers, Corbin Foster and Howard "Buddy" Foster.

Pallbearers will be Gayle Foster, Tommy Foster, Terry Green, Jimmy McDaniel, Lonnie Waits, and Aaron Carraway.

The family would like to thank the staff of Willow Ridge Nursing Home for their care and kindness during his stay there.
