Funeral Services for Mr. Donnie DeLancy, 54, of Columbia, LA will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Palestine Baptist Church in Columbia with Pastor Frank Shields and Rev. Charles Lutrick officiating. Interment will follow at Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia.

Mr. DeLancy was born on June 8, 1957 in Monroe, LA and passed away on September 30, 2011 in Alexandria, LA. Donnie was owner and operator of DeLancy Site Preparation, Inc. He was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his lifelong passion, horseback riding. His happiest and most memorable moments were spent on the back of a horse in the woods with his hog hunting buddies. He was also a member of the Vixen Hunting Club for many years.

Donnie was a very humble man. His heart was always in helping and trying to meet the needs of others, but he never wanted recognition for his love and generosity. Donnie touched the lives of everyone who knew and loved him in this life...and even in his death, as an organ donor, his love is selflessly changing the lives of countless strangers.

Donnie put his family first, before anything else, and made sure all their needs were met. He was a loving husband, and awesome father, and an amazing grandfather. To some, Donnie was known as "Flash", "Shot", or "Amigo", but to his grandchildren, who were his greatest pride and joy, he was "PaPaw Donnie."

Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Donald DeLancy, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Lois DeLancy and grandmother, Bertie Moore Barron. Donnie is also survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Cindy R. DeLancy; two sons, Dean DeLancy and his wife, Shelly; Derek DeLancy and his wife, Leslie; three beloved grandchildren, Annelise, Jacob, and Landon; a sister, Gwen Blackwelder and her husband, Robert; two brothers, Steve DeLancy and Stan DeLancy; two nieces, Courtney and Alaina; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jodie and Carrie Roberts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joey and Deana Roberts and Paul and Dawn Johnston; two nieces and a nephew, Ashton, Farren, and Jody.

Pallbearers will be Randall Beebe, Ray Braddock, Perry Pee, Ricky Grant, Courtney Dunn, David Varnell, Teddy May, and Richard Jones.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Masters, Jerry Bailey, Shannon Bailey, Red Munholland, Marty Spangler, Jimmy Ray Girod, Robert Blackwelder, Eddie Dunn, and Charlie Simons.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Palestine Baptist Church in Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Citizens Progressive Bank in memory of Donnie.
